Fiction Friday 100-Word Challenge: A Demolition, Maybe?

Here’s your prompt! I think we put a bunch of potential stories into play this week. We could have a demolition here, but could you also see a clean-up operation? How about an excavation? A research dig? The mind boggles!

Remember, you have 100 words to tell the tale. Leave it in the comments or at your own web site with a link back to us, please. We’d love to read your story!

  1. Say what you will about the humans, they had an excellent communications network. We hadn’t yet razed ten of their cities to the ground and the entire planet seemed to know we were targeting their libraries. We already had gold from other worlds, our invasion of this one was to capture information. Books, from hundreds of cultures covering thousands of their years. A wealth of knowledge to educate our young on the long journey across the galaxy.
This latest example, now a great pile of tangled metal and rubble, the people, evacuated away and each one carrying a single book.
