Groovy Friday – Seventh Son

SeventhSon

It’s Friday!

Who is this loser, dancing around in a Snuggie and waving some kind of third world fly-swatter?  Damn hippie!

But wait.  Don’t let looks deceive you.  That’s Georgie Fame and even though all he does here is some flat-footed dancing, he is a renowned British R&B/jazz keyboardist who had a string of hits in the 1960s including three number ones.  He continued as a mainstay on the British music scene and still performs today with such contemporaries as Van Morrison and Bill Wyman.  He’ll be 73 this June, but here he is as a young man looking kind of stupid on national television.  Thank heavens for those dancers.

Have a groovy Friday!

Harriet Tubman is one of America’s most beloved historical figures but has sadly been largely relegated to just a few facts during Black History Month. This incredible ex-slave, spy, cook, nurse, public speaker and rescuer deserves a story worthy of her stature.

“Minty” – tentatively titled after Tubman’s nickname – is a “reimagining” of Harriet Tubman as an action hero. It is a period piece with a modern flare.
