Phantom Sway staff attended the opening of The Legend of Krampus group art show at The Hive Gallery in downtown Los Angeles Saturday night. The exhibit showcases over 100 artists working in various media. The theme is Krampus, a character from the age-old Christmas folklore of certain parts of Austria and Germany. Krampus is a demon-like monster who rides along with Saint Nicholas to punish naughty children. The legend has gained in popularity in North America in recent years, spawning Hollywood films, art, gifts, and collectibles depicting the horned devil.
Phantom Sway Creative Director Wendy Leaumont is excited to have two of her own sculptures included in the show. If you missed the opening reception, don’t fret! The show runs through July 3, 2016 and the gallery is located at 729 S. Spring Street, Los Angeles. See our photos from opening night in the gallery below:
When Kira isn't scaling the peaks of some of the toughest mountains in the world or exploring the Amazon rainforests she spends her time as a foster mom for her local animal shelter. Kira has volunteered for "Doctors without Borders" even though she isn't even a doctor or a nurse. Her mantra is "More speed, more height, more life..."
Just kidding....Kira is a writer, actor and suburban housewife and mother. Her mantra is "If I can't do it from the couch, is it really worth it?"
Harriet Tubman is one of America’s most beloved historical figures but has sadly been largely relegated to just a few facts during Black History Month. This incredible ex-slave, spy, cook, nurse, public speaker and rescuer deserves a story worthy of her stature.
“Minty” – tentatively titled after Tubman’s nickname – is a “reimagining” of Harriet Tubman as an action hero. It is a period piece with a modern flare.
