Joia Monet – Floral Rompers & Leopard Wedges

Hello ladies and gents! Can you believe it’s July already?! Half of the year is gone, and with each day that passes, the temperature seems to increase. This means strategically wearing less material while keeping a presentable appearance. Denim will always be a year-round “go-to”, but I’ve been doing my best to avoid it when I can. There’s nothing worse than walking around with clothes sticking to your skin due to unnecessary body sweat!

Rompers are a must-have piece this summer! It’s perfect for those dreadful, hot days, and you don’t have to stress over putting together an outfit. Score! They also come in so many different styles – short sleeve, spaghetti strap, halter top, etc. I bought this tube top romper for $6 from the Salvation Army. If you haven’t already guessed, blue is my favorite color, so that’s what initially drew me to this. The floral print gives it a nice retro look, and the pockets are an added bonus.

I chose to dress it up with these red, leopard wedges intentionally for the contrast. Yes, a tan wedge could have been worn just fine with it, but I didn’t want this to be a basic look. Basic is sometimes boring, and boring is not my thing when it comes to what I wear. I’m sure you won’t be surprised that I picked these up from Burlington’s years ago.

Quick styling tip: Mixing prints works best with bright colors.

As mentioned before, sometimes showing too much skin up top and at the bottom isn’t a great option, so I threw on my favorite, longline cardigan from forever 21. Cardigans are usually thought to be made of a thick, sweater-like material and only to be worn during the fall or winter seasons – not true! Because of its length, the romper doesn’t look as short as my long legs make it. I stacked a few colorfully-patterned bangles to keep with the bold style. Don’t be afraid to go against the “normal” way of wearing things. Get creative! But remember to stay true to you. Until next time, continue to shop smart!
