Lady Gaga is nothing like Madonna, so says Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga gets compared to Madonna all the time. Frankly, I think Gaga and most other modern female pop stars owe pretty much everything to Madge. She broke ground in an industry where women were mostly presented as either sluts or back-up performers. Instead of running from the “slut” label she embraced it, changed it and sang to it.

Madonna is the Holy Mother of our Lord and Savior and Madonna is also the holy mother of pop. Coincidence? I think not.

Gaga is ridiculously talented in her own right but I can’t blame her for getting tired of the comparisons all the time. Earlier this week Gaga complained during a radio interview about “parallels” people constantly bring up.

“Madonna and I are very different. Just saying. We’re very different. I wouldn’t make that comparison at all and I don’t mean to disrespect Madonna. She’s a nice lady, and she’s had a fantastic huge career — biggest pop star of all time. But I play a lot of instruments. I write all my own music. I spend hours and hours a day in the studio. I’m a producer. I’m a writer. What I do is different. [My style is] not just rehearsing over and over again to put on a show.”

While adding that she didn’t mean any disrespect for the eternal Material Girl, Gaga said she deserves recognition for her talent in her own right.

“I just will not be compared to anyone anymore. I am who the f–k I am and this is me. My life story is my life story, just like yours is. The thing is we all express things in different ways…”

This was definitely a little shady. Madonna also plays multiple instruments. She started out on the NYC music scene as a drummer. She’s probably amassed more hours in the studio than Gaga has even been alive.

However, she does deserve to not have to answer the same stupid, f***ing question over and over again.

The shade has been played. Your move, Madge!
