This week the guys delve deeply into the work of an actor about whom most of us probably know little, the Italian spaghetti western star Tomas Milian. Accompanied by a close friend of Milian’s, they begin with his most famous film, Django Kill, and launch into a wide-ranging discovery-fest. Not only will you learn a ton about an actor whose work is pretty darned good, but you may also pick up a tidbit or three about the fantastic spaghetti western genre (Clint Eastwood, anyone?). Harriet Tubman is one of America’s most beloved historical figures but has sadly been largely relegated to just a few facts during Black History Month. This incredible ex-slave, spy, cook, nurse, public speaker and rescuer deserves a story worthy of her stature.
“Minty” – tentatively titled after Tubman’s nickname – is a “reimagining” of Harriet Tubman as an action hero. It is a period piece with a modern flare.
