I wanted to save this week’s show for a week when things were a little bit slow in podcast town because it is, I think, one of Sarah’s most interesting interviews. She sat down with professor and author David Galef for a wide and deep conversation about flash fiction. Of course, I’m a tiny bit biased because I love flash fiction and write a bit of it myself, but my obvious and embarrassing fan-boying aside, this is a heck of an interview. There are a lot of good reasons for an author to be familiar with, and to write, flash fiction. You’re going to get a whole bunch of them from someone who has put in the effort to become an expert. Is there room for another flash fiction expert? Hmm…could just be! Listen in!

Harriet Tubman is one of America’s most beloved historical figures but has sadly been largely relegated to just a few facts during Black History Month. This incredible ex-slave, spy, cook, nurse, public speaker and rescuer deserves a story worthy of her stature.
“Minty” – tentatively titled after Tubman’s nickname – is a “reimagining” of Harriet Tubman as an action hero. It is a period piece with a modern flare.
