The Write Now Podcast Presents: “What They Didn’t Teach You in School”

episode-047-title-card-768x575

This week Sarah takes us all back to school, but not in the way that gives you anxiety because you forgot to study for that test and wasn’t there a book report presentation due today and oh no there really was but maybe I can fake my way through it and WHY AM I STANDING HERE IN MY UNDERWEAR?!

*ahem* Sorry…sorry…

Luckily, we’re not literally going back to school. Sarah is only taking us as far as the memories of the skills we learned and, as importantly, didn’t learn in our younger days. School may have taught us the nuts and bolts of how to write but there is still much to discover. What else can we learn? Listen in!

Harriet Tubman is one of America’s most beloved historical figures but has sadly been largely relegated to just a few facts during Black History Month. This incredible ex-slave, spy, cook, nurse, public speaker and rescuer deserves a story worthy of her stature.

“Minty” – tentatively titled after Tubman’s nickname – is a “reimagining” of Harriet Tubman as an action hero. It is a period piece with a modern flare.
