Groovy Friday – Let’s take a ride!

It’s Friday!

Here’s Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.  If you’re not familiar with the enormous influence Herb Alpert had on the music industry in the latter half of the twentieth century, look it up.  You’re connected.  Go ahead.  I’ll wait.

I grew up listening to these guys.  They sold more albums in the 60s than The Beatles.  My parents had several of their albums, but “Going Places” was the family favorite.  There’s an endlessly groovy version of “The Third Man” theme that closes out side one, but this was the big hit from that album and it’s pretty damn groovy as well.
Special thanks to Scopitone.  We’ll be hearing and learning more about them in the weeks to come.
Have a groovy weekend!

Harriet Tubman is one of America’s most beloved historical figures but has sadly been largely relegated to just a few facts during Black History Month. This incredible ex-slave, spy, cook, nurse, public speaker and rescuer deserves a story worthy of her stature.

“Minty” – tentatively titled after Tubman’s nickname – is a “reimagining” of Harriet Tubman as an action hero. It is a period piece with a modern flare.
