Groovy Friday – A Very Groovy Christmas

It’s Friday!

For nearly two and a half years, Phantom Sway presented “Groovy Friday,” a weekly shot of 60s grooviness to start your weekend off with a bang.  The feature concluded at the end of last year simply because I ran out of new clips.  Then last month I came across this.

Julie’s Christmas Special with special guest Peter Ustinov

Granted, it isn’t quite up to the high-caliber grooviness of previous outings.  We are talking Julie Andrews, after all.  But it does have three things beloved by Groovy Friday audiences everywhere; crazy dancing, ugly costumes and really unfortunate hairdos.  This link goes to the entire “Julie’s Christmas Special” from 1973 and you’re welcome to watch the whole thing, but I’m focusing here on just the opening number.  The music is “I Saw Three Ships” from Julie’s 1967 album “A Christmas Treasure.”

Have a groovy weekend, a groovy holiday season and the grooviest of new years!
