The Young Generation

It’s Friday! Let’s get pretty!

This healthy dose of grooviness and bad hair styles comes courtesy of the BBC and the song and dance troupe they created in the the late 1960s known as The Young Generation. The troupe appeared on many different BBC programs well into the 1970s.

One of the dancers in this clip is Nigel Lythgoe. He went on to produce Britain’s “Pop Idol” as well as the USA’s “American Idol” and “So You Think You Can Dance,” serving as a judge on the latter. If you want to go looking for him, feel free. Here’s a hint: he’s the guy with the awful hair.

Have a groovy weekend!

Harriet Tubman is one of America’s most beloved historical figures but has sadly been largely relegated to just a few facts during Black History Month. This incredible ex-slave, spy, cook, nurse, public speaker and rescuer deserves a story worthy of her stature.

“Minty” – tentatively titled after Tubman’s nickname – is a “reimagining” of Harriet Tubman as an action hero. It is a period piece with a modern flare.
