Groovy Friday – Fire in Rio with Sacha Distel

Fire in Rio

C’est Vendredi!

Sacha Distel wants to be your valentine and who are you to say no? Just look at him. Il est tres beau, non? The man was romantically involved with Brigitte Bardot for a couple of years. They broke up after he allegedly turned down her proposal of marriage. Can you imagine?

But Distel was much more than just a handsome face. He was a professional jazz guitarist who gained international fame in the 60s as a crooner. He wrote the song “La Belle Vie,” better known in the states as “The Good Life,” a big hit for Tony Bennett.

Did I mention he was romantically involved with Dionne Warwick? That too. The two sang a terrific version of “The Girl From Ipanema” which you can find on YouTube. Check it out.

This clip is from his French variety show.

Have a groovy weekend!
