Veterans’ Day Viewing: Michael Broderick

Veterans’ Day is just around the corner, and there are so many bad ass vets working in Hollywood today, we figured we’d feature a few of them so you can check out their work. You might even select a few films or episodes featuring these brave and steadfast guys for your Veterans’ Day weekend viewing.

But since it’s his birthday today, we’re going to start with one of the few and the proud, Michael Broderick. You’ve seen him play a lot of NYPD detectives, like in Power, but his authentic accent isn’t all Stanslavski. He hails from Teaneck, New Jersey and is purported to be a huge Springsteen fan.

He met his lovely wife Dana Commandatore while playing guitar at CGBG, so his punk rep is authentic. Together they founded Rethinking Autism. Michael now fights for people who think a little differently than the rest of us, who need to be understood rather than “cured”.

You won’t just recognize Michael’s Marine Corps mug from shows like Justified, NCIS or Get Shorty, either. If you’re a gamer, you’ve heard his voice in popular franchises Medal of Honor and Need for Speed, starring as Johnny Storm in XBox’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Kinda makes you want to play and listen for his wisecracks, huh?

Good thing a holiday weekend is just around the corner…
